Cutworms caused severe damage to forage seed crops in the Peace Region
Some damage was seen in 2023 N.E.-SK. Timothy crops.
With the dry conditions, growers are advised to check your fields this spring. If you see bare patches in your field, consider marking the area, check again and if the bare patch increases in size, check below ground surface for cutworms. Contact the Sask Forage Seed Commission office if you need assistance and we will coordinate efforts with entomology resources in Sask and the Peace Region.
