SFSDC Annual General Meeting 2021
The SFSDC held the 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Saskatoon, SK on January 11, 2021. Using Zoom and the tech support from the AV Team at Prairieland Park Saskatoon, 114 individuals attended the AGM and the Forages Market Outlook presentation. The SFSDC appreciates the patience shown by our attendees at our first virtual AGM. A polling platform, www.sli.do, was used for voting. Eligible voters tested their connections using a practice vote and 22 of the uniquely identified 27 registered forage seed growers who contributed a levy in the last two years, successfully used slido. THANK YOU to all those growers who took part, because of you, we made quorum at our AGM!
Beyond growers, directors and managers from several other provincial forage seed organizations and different commodity groups joined us. With increased opportunities to collaborate and gain research efficiencies, it was great to have the cross-sector participation! Thanks also to the forage seed buyers, agronomists, professional researchers and consultants, government policy and extension specialists who joined our meeting, along with farm input seed and pesticide suppliers and farm news media.
The AGM was called to order by James Silcox, Chair of SFSDC. Following James’ report, David Cox, the Audit Chair, presented the audited financial statement. NeuPath Group, from Nipawin, SK, conducted the audit for 2019/20 and were also appointed as Auditor for 2020/21. Jo-Anne Relf-Eckstein presented the Executive Director’s Report and the proposed budget for 2020/21, which was followed by information on SFSDC’s Activities, reported by Spencer Staffen, Vice Chair. The AGM was adjourned and the Zoom meeting switched to the Forage Seed Market Prospects presentation by David McGregor, Imperial Seeds.
